Literacy History

 Hello everyone, my name is Jasmine Reese. I am from Jersey City born and raised. I am a senior here at New Jersey City University, studying criminal justice. With my degree I plan to seek a career in the criminal justice field by becoming a parole or probation officer. I am also a member of the women's basketball team here at NJCU. I love basketball and is one of the things I am passionate about. Lastly, I decided to take this course to expand my knowledge on the impact and purpose of literacy around us. I was introduced to the practice of literacy at a very early age. At just 18 months old I was able to read and identify different words, phrases and sentences. My mom was the main person who would read to me every day and teach me how to pronounce words, phrases, as well as reading sentences during my early stages of development.
